Problem employees

According to a study conducted by the healthcare consultancy IHC, the cost of absenteeism to the British economy is staggering. Some estimates run at between £10-20bn a year.

There are a number of reasons for absence from work apart from ill-health.  One of the primary concerns that our clients have, tends to be what is commonly described as 'moonlighting'.

This typically involves a person unlawfully using company time, and often assets, to provide goods, services, or work in general, for another employer whilst supposedly on sick leave.

There are varying degrees of severity in these cases, from working for direct competitors, to benefit fraud, and other offences that are commonly uncovered during an investigation.

FAQ's

My employee is not absent, but I suspect something?

When your staff member works away from the office, performing duties such as dispatch, sales or working in the trades, this presents ample opportunity for the unscrupulous to take advantage of their employer's goodwill.  We often undertake investigations to verify staff whereabouts and performance.

Is this type of investigation legal?

We go to great lengths to work with HR departments to ensure that applicable legislation such as DPA, and HRA are strictly observed, in order to avoid legal complications should a disciplinary, or a prosecution arise as a result of our findings.

What sort of evidence can we expect?

We strive to provide the most unequivocal evidence possible, usually in video recording form.
